Band is an instrumental ensemble performance class focused on musical, technical, and intellectual growth through exposure to music from a variety or historical periods and cultures.  Students will perform as a concert band, marching band, and pep band with the added opportunity of joining the jazz band and playing in the spring musical pit orchestra if they desire to do so. The SHS Band helps to promote Irish Pride with its outstanding performances at school activities and community events.

Choir is a vocal ensemble performance class focused on musical, vocal, and intellectual growth through exposure to music from a variety of historical periods and cultures.  Students learn how to effectively use their voices through an increased awareness of the body and breath and create beautiful and exciting performances by knowing their role in the ensemble and finding a connection with the music. Singing is something that anyone can do and there is a place in the choir for everyone.
