2010 READ FOR A LIFETIME AWARDS PRESENTED
Six students from Seneca High received their 2010 Read For A Lifetime Certificates Of Achievement from the Media Center Staff on Thursday, May 6th. The awards are issued from the Secretary of State & Illinois State Librarian, Jesse White.
To qualify for the certificate the students had to read a minimum of four novels from the 2009-2010 Read For A Lifetime List. After reading their selections they recorded them on a list held in the Media Center. Superintendent Mark Thurwanger and Librarian Kathy Parker also honored the finalists by giving each of them a $20 gift card to a book store. Several of the students read way beyond the four required books. Congratulations to all of the recipients!
Read for a Lifetime is the first statewide reading program to target high school students. The primary goal of the program is to promote the enjoyment of reading, by encouraging students to read both classic and contemporary literature, and rewarding them for their effort.
