Allied Health Goes to the Morgue!

Students Tour Local Health-Related Facilities

by Kerri Johnson

February 16, 2007

The SHS Allied Health students are touring various health-related facilities this semester including the Grundy County Coroner's Office, Riverside Chiropractic, Seneca Medical Services, Morris Hospital, and the Community Hospital of Ottawa.  These opportunities provide the experience of seeing first hand the vastly different career possibilities available in the health field.

The students this year will also have the chance to spend a day job shadowing with a professional in an area of their interest.  Some of the areas chosen so far include the hospital Emergency Room, Labor and Delivery, and the Radiology Department.  Direct observation of individuals working in healthcare will hopefully assist the students to choose the future career that suits them best.
